my parents showed me this movie probably when i was in middle school and i’ve loved it ever since. it’s truly a movie made with so much love and passion, but in an understated way. it understands emotional beats and how to keep you engaged in the story at hand, all while developing the characters in a natural way. we need more movies being made like this today.
characters that should’ve been queer: wat & geoff’s homoromantic tension is nearly as poignant as william & jocelyn’s on screen romance.

yet another “should’ve been gay” movie, but i’ll forgive this one because of when it was made. david clearly wanted michael to be his boyfriend (and we can talk about the complexity it would add, questioning if it feed into the false narrative that gay men creep on straight men. in addition to the fact that it feeds into the idea of gays being dead or villains).
it’s funny, it’s creepy, it’s got all the pieces you need for a fun 80s movie.
still the best live action batman. the banter between bat and cat, the dynamic of gordon and batman. alfred! however i will die on the hill that it’s tommy elliot not edward nygma.

if a werewolf movie isn’t using itself as an allegory for mental or physical illness, i don’t want it.
using the very american creature of a werewolf to tell a story about generational trauma and illness felt so grounded in the world we live in today. it’s a story about a man who is trying so hard to not become his father, but even before he’s turned we aren’t sure if he can shake the demons of his youth.
