This had some arresting visuals, sets, and costumes, and music that really got to me (not always in a good way), yet was pretty boring to sit through. Could easily see how this could be someone's favorite movie, but it was not for me.
Showgirls is flashy and over the top, its performances are campy, and some of the dialog is so dumb that it’s gotta be a joke, right? Yet I have doubts.
Ludicrous, drunk and horny, golden and glistening hype gay melodrama on steroids, a German take on Genet in English, its artifice turned up to an eleven. Lots of laughs.
