A Disney short by Clyde Geronimi where Goofy works for the circus and is trying to give an elephant named Dolores (which he pronounces dolorious) a bath. At this point they had gotten Pinto Colvig back, so Goofy could talk again, and also the ‘how to’ shorts were maybe running a bit low on ideas, so this one feels more like a standard Disney short. Probably just because this one isn’t Jack Kinney or Jack Hannah, I know they’re not yet done with the ‘instructional’ ones but it’s nice to see something different in the mix.

They're Off 1948
A Disney short by Jack Hannah with Goofy as a bunch of spectators at a horse race. They really liked jokes and plots about horse races in the 30s and 40s - seems like mostly just a cultural artifact at this point. I don’t think I have ever met anyone in real life who really digs horse racing, just a few people who went to the Kentucky Derby to wear really big hats and get sandblasted on mint juleps. Anyway, this one is decent but it does feel like they’re running low on ‘Goofy playing ____ sport’ ideas.

This is accomplished by having their protagonists be impulsive and short-sighed to an extreme fault - it's an uncomfortable person to have to accompany for the…Translated from by -
The Irishman 2019
My tenth film by Martin Scorsese. I think this marks the longest film I've ever seen in a theater and the first time I've gone to see a movie made for a streaming service in theaters instead of just watching it at home.
I've got a lot of kind of scattered thoughts on this movie, but overall I thought it was very good, although I don't know if I would have the attention span to watch another film of this…Translated from by
