They Came Together 2014
This is every bit as good as Wet Hot American Summer, it’s a bummer more people haven’t seen it! I think it was probably hard to market to the right people, bc Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler could have plausibly been in the kind of movie this movie was making fun of, so people were maybe confused? Idk but if you liked WHAS and late 90s-early 00s romcoms you need to see this if you haven’t. I don’t want to give any of the jokes away bc every joke is like a little present

I Saw the TV Glow 2024
Watching this was a weird experience. I found the overall style kind of trying - the sedated acting, the endless homages, the twee soundtrack - but then all of a sudden I’d feel so socked in the gut and overcome with emotion.
I did love the pink opaque sequences - they perfectly capture what it was like to watch one of those young adult thriller shows (Alex Mack, are you afraid of the dark, etc) when you were a little too young to understand what was happening snd so your burgeoning kid imagination makes it into something much weirder and more disturbing.
