    Powerful and moving film that never loses its emotional core over the history lesson it could also be, and for the better. Fernanda Torres' Eunice is a remarkable character but it's the entire family life that gets disrupted and yet they continue in defiance and with dignity.

    Some scenes feel strikingly contemporary again which makes one anxious for the things to come. It is the family, however, that carries the viewer over until the very end, refusing not to smile.
