For a subject matter that is incredibly stuffy and overly bureaucratic with 18 mandatory steps of tradition per second, I feared that the pacing would be brutal.
However, it plays more like a court drama, with different parties edging for votes, and is supported by a booming, tense score that is well deserved of its nomination.
If none of this appeals to you, you basically get to see John Lithgow as a live action Lord Farquaad.
Another solid entry on my guilty pleasure bookshelf. It doesn't do anything overly inventive, but it is buoyed by a surprisingly strong cast for an action movie.
If Jon Bernthal is holding a gun, its going to be good.
The plot was a bit too similar to the original for this one to stand out to me (ex: journeying out into the unknown and trying to get back to the console).
However, I have to highlight the range of animation styles featured, that part was really fun and well-done.
