There is so much I loved about this movie, and the first hour and a half is like 5/5. Unfortunately the last act has too many big ideas and things to say that it really diminishes an otherwise excellent film. Mickey 17 as a character is fascinating and Pattinson is absolutely wonderful. I just wish the last 20 minutes were more about him and less about what it ends up being about. Still a fun watch, though.
There’s a ton of problematic things about this flick. And for many, it’s the weakest of the original Indiana films. But I can’t help love it, warts and all. And hey, it’s the reason we have PG-13!
This was just an absolute blast. A movie that has a twist every 15 minutes, but all of them feel earned. It is wonderfully written and tightly constructed, and unfolds like a messed up thrill ride. It’s funny, poignant, and much more violent than I was expecting - but just over the top enough to not feel too serious. This is one to see with a crowd.
This is an astonishingly great piece of filmmaking. More importantly, it’s a gripping, powerful, and devastating story. This is the best thing I’ve seen this year, show or otherwise. Just unbelievably good.
