Every scene in this felt like an outtake from the real Mickey 17. Very silly and disjointed and rudderless, cobbled together with VO exposition. Robert Pattinson is of course wonderful and shows off his versatility, but to what end? Mark Ruffalo’s Trump/Musk impression was not good or welcome. Every moment was overplayed? There is some good comedic timing and the creatures are cute.

Goldie Hawn is the only one with great hair. I love when you can just feel the movie being brilliantly directed. The tone of the ending vis à vis the whimsical satire of the rest suggests such a bleak outlook on society and politics.

Inclusive uplifting movie gonna be inclusive and uplifting! Occasionally very funny, always cute and on-thesis. Jemima Yevu is MVP here. Rainn Wilson also great as Good Dad.

Q&A with director and cast, moderated by the Mara Wilson in a scarlet red number.

Guadagnino’s adaptation certainly captures both of those things—god help it—but attempts to find meaning in Burroughs’ ramblings. I really enjoyed some of the stylistic flourishes deployed in that attempt, in particular the blurring of bodies and space. I even…
