Decided to just bite the bullet and finish off the Brosnan era of Bond.
This is pretty dumb and bad. But, it’s not horribly racist and boring as sin so it’s got the edge over a couple of the Connery and Moore films. At least I have fun with how dumb it gets. It’s kind of a shame Brosnan goes out on what’s basically an Austin Powers movie but without the jokes, but hey. He will forever be my favorite…
The quality of the writing in these movies is beginning to really decrease on top of the fun action set pieces sadly because this sadly was not as fun as I remembered and feels the most like standard Bond Fluff when it comes to the Brosnan era… though admittedly, going out on the line “I thought Christmas only comes once a year” is maybe the funniest/best way possible so far (this came out the same year as The Spy Who…
The rapping dog is basically why it’s got the rating it has because it comes right the fuck out of nowhere and is hilariously awful.
About as bad as the audience I had the misfortune of seeing it with was. No one deserves to go to a movie theater anymore. You’ve all lost that right. Stay home. Don’t even bother trying to be good. You’re grounded for life.
At least there was a cute cat in the movie doing cute cat things. Cats rule (I say this as my cat bites my hand)
