  A few 100 script rewrites and way less product placement (Dr Pepper and M&Ms are used as plot points) and this would have been a far better movie. I think some studio execs wanted to make Contact meets Event Horizon and it fails spectacularly.

  Also has some incredibly awkward dialogue that sounds like it was written by ChatGPT.

  GCI holds up though.

  Pretty run of the mill commentary of 1990s era video game violence panic.

  Features decent performances from Edward Furlong and Frank Langella.

  CGI doesn’t quite hold up, but the rest of the effects aren’t bad, including a healthy dose of rotoscoped lighting.
