Stray thoughts on the 4K theatrical rewatch:

-it’s impossible to determine scientifically which hobbit is the most fuckable

-Aragorn knows some kind of equine language, so he must know all the good horse gossip

-dwarf women are bearded butch queens, gender is but a construct that dwarves do not subscribe to

-Treebeard threw the first brick at Isengard

-if I lived almost 600 years, I’d probably develop various addictions and personalities as well, Gollum, so no judgement or kink-shaming here…

Whispered to my friends just before it started “my holes are ready.” Reader: my holes were not ready.

Pretentious and excruciating. Contemplated suicide so it would end faster.

I think this an adaptation of Louis C.K.’s life story because the audience is forced to watch a screenwriter masturbate for over two hours.

Also, I’m not a lawyer, but I believe anyone who sat through this is legally allowed to smack Charlie Kaufman on sight.

A good start for (hopefully) more gay major studio releases.

It has a fair amount of accuracy in regards to the gay experience:

    -Coming out isn’t a “one-and-done” experience
-Coming out is never easy, even when you have a open-minded, liberal family
-Manipulating straight people to serve your own interests
-Falling for any cute guy who makes eye contact with you

While it’s not a top-shelf piece of queer cinema, it’s still a necessary addition, particularly for younger audiences. I watched it simultaneously happy that a whole generation gets a relatable romcom, and completely jealous...
