Nausicaa did everything in this movie and she didn’t even need a translator.

Fernanda Torres portrayed strength, grief and perseverance in such a subtle way. Amazing performance.

I really appreciate how we were made to feel what the family felt. We did not get closure because the family did not until years later. Seeing the kids reflect on this was one of my favorite scenes.

Loved how closely they recreated the photos.

This film was so well pieced together, I’m in complete awe.

Monster presents a narrative that exposes the viewers’ natural desire to vilify those we don’t understand. What lies underneath our perceptions may be innocence, rather than the dramatic twists we prefer to see.

Good intentions are not always good, and monster games can be a cry of love.

I think this will deserve a rewatch, when my heart is ready for it.

This movie made me feel such a sense of quiet melancholy.

The buildup was subtle in a way that made the ending really impactful.

The reoccurring motifs of para-sailers, echoing “you’re too young”, simultaneously reflecting Sophie’s coming of age, while also predicating the loss she would feel even into adulthood.

I feel like i never like looking back at videos taken on my phone because the quality is too good, and sometimes clarity actually takes away from emotional memory. Maybe i just need to take blurry and shaky videos from now on.

Now 3/3 for Paul Mescal media where i got to see his bare ass.
