I don't know I expected to learn anything about golf watching this. But it was fine. I wanted to watch some Donald Duck shorts since I remember watching them as a kid I just don't remember any specific ones. This didn't jog any memories. Some of the gags were funny. Not much to say about it.
First time seeing this since I released my Steamboat Willie short film and I gotta say I'm not entirely blown away. The animation is fun and inventive but at a certain point Mickey torturing these poor animals as musical instruments just made me feel empty after a while. I know that sounds ridiculous but that's what I thought. I wished I loved this and I get why it's iconic but I didn't feel much here other than the animation and music is fun.
The most overwhelming and emotional experience I've ever had. We're so lucky to be in a universe where this film exists.
I sit in the audience. I see an old woman come up the aisle. I wonder, what will this film be like for her? She has probably lived during the time of Elvis. And now she's here watching this film. Then the film starts, whip pans, mega zoom ins, outs, wild transitions, crazy editing, this film is gonna kill the queen I think.
That first hour was transcendent. The Hayride, the editing, the whole Luhrmannisms. I ate it all up…
