Spaceballs 1987
Okay, the writing's not the best and the pacing is kind of wonky. A lot of the jokes don't land today. But enough of them do. The actors are giving it their all, and they're fun to watch. I love the craft that went into it. The sets, costumes, props, it all looks like a real-ass movie. Sometimes it's nice to watch a wacky comedy with no stakes where there are a lot of slow parts where you can relax and enjoy looking at it. I had a swell time.

It was interesting, but it didn't go deep enough. I have a million questions about Nasubi's ordeal that the movie didn't seem interested in answering. What's worse is that we *can't* get answers to these questions, because there's no way to watch My Life in Prizes or read translations of his diaries. The little scraps of context the film provides only serve to frustrate. Insatiable curiosity is a bad feeling to have at the end of a documentary. But as abbreviated as it is, I'm glad I got to hear the story, and I hope it helps provide Nasubi some psychological and material comfort.

This one was great! It fixes my main complaint from the first movie, which was too much time spent on uninteresting battles. This movie spends most of its fighting budget on one very large battle towards the end, but it does a terrific job setting it up.
