cinematic to the point of extremity: every frame is extremely carefully crafted, nothing reflexive. the final shot is itself exceptionally gorgeous. color grading was almost painfully desaturated but I enjoyed the aspect of true black and white reflecting the presence of Nosferatu’s shadow. many of the shots are like paintings.

Late Night with the Devil 2023
amazing premise kind of squandered. acting is not great (who ever heard of a late night show unable to maintain a smile when something goes wrong) and all of the opportunities for this premise are kind of missed (offstage scenes tell us basically nothing, and they don’t commit hard enough to making it feel like a real taping, set, or cast). the ending does the premise no justice at all. still, the late night feel is fun and novel.
gave it three stars, then found out they used ai art instead of paying an artist. fuck you for that.
