  I saw this in 2009 or 2010 in Portland, Maine, and it's wild that since then, I've lived in Boston, Seattle, and now NYC (for over 6 years?!)... and I've been to these types of scenes. I literally know/have met a handful of people from this film (RIP Eric Gilliland).... This hit hard for me because I look at the sheltered little gay boy from rural Maine and all the change that has happened for them since that they could never have imagined and.... wooof.

  I'm giving this film 4 stars not because it was enjoyable or even great, but simply because it messed with me and made me take a half hour walk around the neighborhood afterward.

  There's a certain sensibility to theater where a script becomes vaguely Jungian and call-backs are made to previous imagery, or text, and it works because it's theater. When those plays are adapted into a movie, it always feels like something is lost in translation so it doesn't…
