Memoir of a Snail 2024
liked it a lot more than i thought i would. darkest animation i've seen since Coraline. that religious mum actually filled me with such undescribable rage in that church burning scene - and then that ending really does hit. special film.
i'm writing this one day after watching. my first instinct was to give it 3.5 stars cos it felt like a film i didn't want to like but as i wrote this review i realise it won me over completely 🐌

The single most vile, perverted pile of trash i've ever seen.
not sure if it was a parody, or trying to shine a light on female sexualisation in the patriarchy - it fell somewhere in between and it crashed and burned.
i'm sick to my stomach. hated every creative decision (except the opening Hollywood Boulevard Star scene, that was pretty good).
