  the only way out is forward, the only way forward is through. and in comparison to other studio ghibli works by miyazaki, this one feels ever so personal and delicate and mournful — the world he built rests with him and no one else

  mildly angry/confused about some of the top(?) reviews that seem to highlight just the success of this film and how ~of course~ it did so well because of so and so conditions -- and like yeah sure, but last i heard you review the movie based on its contents so? also some of the vocabulary is like... you know a movie can have questionable history/"propaganda" and still be good right? like i dont wanna speak on this bc i know…
