i get why ppl say this feels like a “fake” movie. the lighting and color grading give it a sitcom-y look, but honestly i enjoyed it. channing tatum’s face might be too modern for the ‘60s, but he did a solid job (i rarely see him in a serious role). scarlett johansson slayed, as expected. i loved the 60s aesthetic, sets, and costumes, and vintage NASA is very interesting to me.

The Substance 2024
Really enjoyed this for its concept and grotesque body horror. Great practical effects that are rare in mainstream films. Demi Moore had a great performance. However, the film stumbles thematically. While critiquing beauty standards, it paradoxically spends more time judging its female characters than interrogating the creators of the substance. The focus on body close-ups feels overdone, potentially detracting from the misogynistic critique. Still, it’s a unique and memorable watch.
