I take back almost every bad thing I've ever thought about this movie. It's beautifully shot. There are some incredible practical special effects (the plane ditching in the ocean for example). The non-linear storyline not only works but makes it all even more interesting. Love Mark Rylance's performance. Love the Elgar reference in the score. Between this and Oppenheimer, Nolan can make historical dramas with the best of them.

This essentially defined what cinematic craftsmanship looks like for the next 80 years and counting. The story itself is a solid 4/5 but the quality of the acting, editing, cinematography etc. is what elevates it to all-time great status. And when you factor in the historical context of this movie being a pioneer when it comes to stuff like the way the camera makes use of space on a three dimensional plane rather than the standard two dimensions it raises…
