Mikey really kinda hated women a little on this one, huh?

Pacino and Crowe are so good they can do most of their shit on the phone for most of the movie and it’s still so good.

Honestly, hadn’t thought about just how much of this movie is done over the phone. Mann is just so good with the camera.

Mann loves his fucking vocalizations representing man approaching divinity. It works though.

    Plummer’s little looks/faces really save Mike Wallace’s character…

The best parts were watching astronauts skip around on the moon, singing and joking.

Not a fan of how the different missions were not delineated in any way.

If you’re going to use footage from all manned Apollo missions for one tapestry, you need more genuinely poetic sensibilities than this movie has.

A film that knows what could be interesting but doesn’t know enough to actually say anything about it.

Looks pretty good but never too interesting.

Relies a lot on pretty basic story beats without ever fleshing them out and yet still sticks around for over 2 hours.

No movie should only serve as set up for its sequel.

A movie that is pretty good until it’s suddenly great.

The thing about transactions is that they take the place of understanding. You do your part, they do theirs and everyone goes home happy. But anything can be flattened into a transaction because then it means that someone who fails to hold up their part of the deal now simply owes you. Your son owes you for being a disappointment, no need to look any deeper. Your coworker owes you…
