Just because there’s a load of rubbish written on the Internet about casting decisions and such by a bunch of ignorant plebs doesn’t mean that the movie sucks.
I LOVED all the new music. ✅
It was a proper musical with some brilliant new songs. I loved the new lyrics and arrangements of the original movies songs too.
I would say that the villain song didn’t land for me though, it was…
I usually hate movies like this because I find it SO ANNOYING when the whole objective of a movie is to achieve a simple task yet they can’t because they keep doing stupid stuff.
BUT Jim Carrey gives an absolute masterclass of physical comedy. So funny, the faces he pulls, the way he walks…. HILARIOUS.
I really enjoyed this, although I did rewatch after a day of skiing, drinking and eating pizza so maybe I was in the right frame of mind for something so silly.
Nice to see the cricket return.
I really liked the music in the opening credits. That was classy.
Bongo was nice, the middle section boring and the Jack and the beanstalk retelling with Mickey and the gang was fun. But overall compared to Snow White, which I think it’s fair to compare to as it comes after it in Disney's history, a bland effort.
