  A meditative dream exquisitely shot-- this film is a great slow burn film that plays greatly with atmospheric cinema, creating scenes that look and feel visceral yet so cerebral at the same time. The story/film, written with not a keen plot in mind, is a large metaphor for the changing times, possibly in Thailand, where values such as tradition begin to fade seen in Tong leaving the pagoda, where art can grow to obsession the way it had consumed Boongong.…

  What a roller coaster ride of a movie. The way the film opens sets us up for a crazy ride, and boy was I rewarded for the entire ride. I’ve never seen a movie that was so texturally well-made. The ebbs and flows of the film hits some of the best dramatic and comedic notes— that home invasion scene in particular. 

  I think this film was predictable. We know what was going to happen, but I didn’t expect the ride to be like this— and to me that is sublime filmmaking. To make the road that was taken before feel new.
