Watched it with my mom had a nice time
Was really bland on a rewatch. Some jokes hit most were okay
This feels a lot more religious on a rewatch
It feels almost that the two woman represent the duality of Bergman's own artistry: his religiously pure side and his religiously sinful side, the latter being a greater indulgence of his liberties as an artist that breaks the religious doctrines of the prior
Ultimately such schizophrenia amalgamates to form the same artistic identity: Ingmar Bergman
This is my conjecture
As haunting and intentionally convoluted as the first watch
After watching May December and Portrait of A Lady On Fire I can really see the influence of this film take shape
I've never held my breath for so long
I've never been so pissed off watching a film
I've never viscerally felt death standing next to me
I've never felt this shattered yet strangely hopeful
I hate you Lars Von Trier
One of the best performances I've ever seen
Yes this is a "musical"
Is she selfish or selfless, this film is full of paradoxical rhetorics that questions the intent and nature behind her decions and actions
It is this built up ambivalence to existence that feels like life is ending; but of course, it didn't, even if it did
This isn't the last song
A "comfort" watch after watching Dancer in the Dark
A film about a woman figuring out what she wants in life. Reminiscent of Frances Ha. The conversation bits gave me a hint of the Before trilogy
I found this very very funny
Performances were subtle whilst maintaining tenderness, melancholy, charisma, and rawness
I really liked the score
That mushroom sequence was so out of pocket I loved it
Trier's direction was whimsical when it needed to be but really backed…
