Sing Sing 2023
Walking into a random movie like this and being blown away like that, it must be the charm of film festivals. What a treat!
Sing Sing has so many great moments where it chooses not to give in to screenwriting temptations and cliches, the script is fantastic! And the ending doubles down on that discipline, turning it into an avalanche of emotion coming over me. Great stuff!

Aftersun 2022
Never have I ever wanted to love a film more than Aftersun. With it's bittersweet cyan-blue colour palette, cheap resort setting and MiniDV-footage; a picture straight out of my childhood, juxtaposing the 21-year old me watching; a life long left behind, and maybe ahead of me. A movie that should fit like a glove in my favourites list, next to the likes of Y Tu Mama Tambien, or even The Irishman.
Yet it's not. And I can't figure out why.…
