A Real Pain 2024
forgot to review this months ago … sad to report there were not that many laughs from the Polish audience I watched this with :(
Anyways, I loved it — and not just because I’m living in Poland. Reminded me of one of my favorite pieces of art by Jenny Holzer; “It is in your self-interest to find a way to be very tender.” This movie seems to put Holzer’s statement to the test: to what extent should pain and tenderness be felt, and who does it really serve?

Pride and Prejudice 1995
Ayo Edibiri’s letterboxed review really said it best … youll always favor the Pride and Prejudice you grew up with. For me it will always be the 2005 P&P, but this one had some real merits— the most important of which being Colin Firth’s wet t-shirt moment.
