  The worst thing about Emilia Pérez is not the issue of the accent (which has already become more of a meme than anything else), nor the fact that none of the main protagonists are actually Mexican, nor the highly questionable treatment of drug trafficking. The real problem is that it isn't a good movie at all. As a musical, the songs range from barely passable to downright cringeworthy, and the film shifts its narrative focus every twenty or thirty minutes.…

  The Substance is a bit too explicit for my taste. However, despite being very explicit, it also contains a lot of blood and body horror, which I find okay.

  This is my first experience with a Naruse film. While I was watching it, I was thinking that it was a really nice film, but that's all. However, towards the end, from a particular scene, I realised that I was in front of a masterpiece.
