Perfect Days 2023
A beautiful film about the routines and tempos of everyday life, none stronger than this man's circadian rhythm. From photographing the same tree each day to playing an extended game of noughts and crosses with a stranger, you can't help but fall in love with the way Hirayama looks at life. For all his thoughtful quirks, habits, and excellent music taste, you can almost forget his traditionally undervalued and unintellectual job title of toilet cleaner – and I think that that's the point.
