That is what the movies are ABOUT! Mentally fist-pumping through the whole thing. Slick as hell, playfully constructed, with the playful acting to match, and the payoffs are hugely satisfying, without feeling overplayed. Could watch that again right this second.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes 2023
Zegler might actually sing more in this than she did in West Side Story.
Thought the third act was the most interesting, and there’s some wild camerawork during the actual games. This one felt looooong, though, in a way that the best long Hunger Games movie did not.

On pure, visceral, gooey, practical Alien thrills, Fede definitely delivers. It looks amazing (except for THAT character) and sounds amazing.
But boy, that fucking character “return” is just…so annoying. I thought to myself “at least it will just be a one scene cameo or something”, and then he is a recurring antagonist who is shown again and again and AGAIN. And every time they showed him, it dampened all the other cool stuff Fede was doing.
