Sorry, Baby 2025

its gratifying to see a movie that knows that books exist too, and values the incredible work that english professors do in colleges. anyone else who caught that very brief, very peripheral mention of song of solomon by toni morrison has my undying love.
PS: also love when a british actor in an american movie actually gets to keep their accent

can we just have a nice day?
in a stealth way, the saddest new release of 2024?
PS - after the campfire scene, Matt never spoke again. Don't know if it was coincidental or not, but it felt fitting; a man like that needs to be discarded and silenced from your life

Kinds of Kindness 2024
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
seeing this and remembering his other movies, im still not sure if yorgos lanthimos is insanely freaky and kinky or if he's the most prudish person alive. He is definitely interested in queerness, mostly in the margins as an extension of the wild sexual anarchy of his universe. Can sexuality, family, community be nothing more than as a means of control, of humiliating us into submission and obedience? And is Yorgos saying we actually prefer that instead of the freedom we love valorizing as Americans?
