This is an exceedingly fine movie.
It is fine in the sense that it did a great job showcasing the world of Mario. I very much enjoyed listening to the music, which payed homage to classic Mario tracks. Lots of easter eggs to find throughout the film too.
I enjoyed the voice acting, I thought everyone was strong. Whatever you want to say about Chris Pratt, he's fine here. Everyone's good in their role and there was never a moment…
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I generally liked the film but I thought it was weird they largely attributed Elvis' drug use and death to Parker, which doesn't seem 100% true, but this was a film approved by the Presley family, so okay. Strong art direction, Austin Butler was great. Tom Hank's accent was really weird and really didn't buy him in a fat suit. Overall, a decent bio flick.
i watched all of this one day a few weeks ago.
it's tough because i found the story of scarlett and rhett to be fascinating enough to last four hours. for a film from 1939 it's shot wonderfully. it's a captivating film!
but obviously, I can't feel sympathy for the 'lost cause' of the civil war. and there's one scene towards the end that's all sorts of messed up. in a lot of ways, this film has aged horribly and the recent discussion from a few years ago needed to be had. but I can't say it isn't captivating.
Ah. I love this film a lot. The simple soundtrack. The characters, the empathy. The WARMTH! Miyazaki's films have a lot of that. And it's so welcome right now.
I loved Kiki's story unfolding as she went to this giant city, learning how to live on her own. I live vicariously through her! The characters she meets throughout the film are wonderful, and the visuals are just lovely, like in any other Miyazaki film.
It's good that this film doesn't…
