So I watched babygirl while eating a meatball sub at the theatre. I tried my best not to drop a meatball during some of the steamier scenes. In all seriousness, this was a sexy and provocative film exploring sub play with a non-judgemental lens. I think it was less erotic than Challengers earlier this year, in that it took more of a character study focus.
Either way, I’ll never eat a meatball sub the same way again.

This was another high tension movie about a character that consistently makes the worst decisions from the Safdie brothers. I saw this after seeing Uncut Gems, and couldn’t help but compare them. Good Time is different in that Robert Pattinson’s character has substantially less options than Adam Sandler’s character and in some ways is more likeable despite making probably the more uncomfortably poor decisions. I think the middle portion of Good Time is better than Uncut Gems but the ending of Uncut Gems was better. I’d say watch both has the Safdie brothers have a consistent style that is still interesting across movies.
