Seven Samurai 1954
Seven Samurai is...funny? 70 years later, it all still hits. This feels like a different kind of movie, where drama, romance, action, and comedy are all present in earnest.
End to end, it never seemed to drag across all 3.5 hours. There are SO many characters established and developed. Each of the Seven are interesting - Kikuchiyo's obviously the fun friend, Kyuzo's the cool one, but everyone needs a Gorobei in their lives. And Yohei, the true king of town.
10/10, won't watch again soon, but it's an canon epic for a reason.
