  I went in to “The Invitation” knowing absolutely nothing about the plot, not even the general premise. I believe this to be the best way to approach films, especially those which fall under the horror umbrella. So much has been done a thousand times before that, as a devoted fan, it’s easy to dismiss a story as another retelling of concepts handled better in more capable hands.   Barbarian 2022

  This was actually a critical and commercial success?? Really???

  I feel like Elaine Benes watching a diner filled with patrons cutting up cookies and chocolate bars with a knife and fork, while others spoon M&Ms. “What is WRONG with all you people?! Have you all gone MAD?!”

  This was so, so bad. It was like an eight-year-old making up a story on the spot. “And then the girl goes into a dark basement and finds a hidden passageway and there’s a monster and it tries to kill her and it’s so scary!!!”

  This thing was positively infantile.

  A movie worth watching purely to see how unbelievably bad it is. The storyline is barely coherent, the acting is awful, the premise doesn’t make much sense and neither does the “twist” ending. Feels like it was shot on a generic VHS cam quarter and with two VCRs.
