classic case of “our first movie blew up, let’s make a second to continue the hype”. i really loved the themes in the first film and SOME of the continued themes in this one, but some of the paths to resolve plot points didn’t make sense.
hands down, best godzilla movie that has ever graced my eyes. anti-war, pro-boat, anti-imperialism all wrapped into one beautiful film. plus that soundtrack was in my head for DAYS. sensational film experience.
if "it's not about the tornadoes, it's about the friends you make (or lose) along the way" was a movie incarnate. this was a fun film that touches on police corruption and land seizure, while following this white woman's attempt to overcome her trauma. I don't think it's as good as its predecessor but it did a great job capturing similar overall themes and the twister scenes were very chaotic (in a good way). i am almost pro-yeehaw after this film. because i went in for the twisters and came out enjoying country music.
