  Was a fun, never boring watch. Pattinson is amazing, Ruffalo had good moments but over all gave an inconsistent performance. Bongs directing is top tier. This looks good and sounds good. But, the pacing felt off to me. Wasn’t a huge deal but I was kind of confused at the speed we were going. I enjoyed this a lot, but it didn’t blow me away the way Bongs work is supposed to. He set the bar for himself super high. Also get bonus points for the Wilheim Scream

  Definitely not as memorable as Yojimbo but still beautifully executed and exciting. This looks gorgeous as does all of Kurosawa’s. And Mifune does a great job of keeping you captivated while everyone else on screen just isn’t holding as much attention. I really liked this but when you compare it to its predecessor it’s definitely the weaker of the 2

  Ending was crazy. Some of the music in this is hilarious and it kind of took me out of gritty and shitty the whole thing was supposed to be. But that ending!

  Wanted to watch it, put it off, blind bought the Criterion 4K. Still was almost nervous to sit down and watch this, given its length and reputation, worried I’d be bored or disappointed. I can safely say now, neither were even close. I was hooked immediately. Something about Kurosawa’s direction is just mesmerizing. This simple on the surface story, is so weirdly realistic it almost feels as if you’re watching a documentary. This lives up to the hype so perfectly.…
