I was lucky enough to see this film at TIFF 2024. Simply, it's my favourite Sean Baker film. I've really enjoyed his films in the past, the best in my opinion, being The Florida Project. Anora has all the makings and feelings of a Sean Baker film but to me, it just felt that every moment, element and performance was tuned perfectly. Mikey Madison is brilliant. And is primed to be recognized by the Academy. So is the film itself;…

It seems in 2024, the roll out of genre films to the mainstream have had a lot of hype but (in my opinion), collectively been extremely underwhelming and dare I say, disappointing (I Saw The TV Glow really delivered). The Substance, however, is in another category. For me, it not only delivered what was promised - it over delivered. To the max. This film is like a joyous beating to the head with a lead pipe. It will over-stimulate every…

I had the amazing opportunity to see this film on 70mm and what a spectacular experience! The film itself is a wonder. Not just for the story, content and scope but also because of HOW it was made. I couldn't be more excited to have this film at the Hyland PRESENTED ON 35MM! Audiences will have a chance to experience this film in a special way before the Oscars - will it win anything? Yet to be seen, it's not…

I was lucky enough to see the premiere at TIFF 2024 - maybe it was the premiere environment, maybe it was that Florence and Andrew were in attendance, maybe it was that I'm a sucker for a well-made tear jerker but I really liked this film. Does it re-invent the wheel? No. Is it a story and a film that you've seen before? Probably. But Florence and Andrew are so likeable on screen and the way the story is told…

Jane Schoenbrun's new film "I Saw The TV Glow" is the follow up feature to their 2021's "We're All Going To The World's Fair" do-it-yourself, mood, experimental-esque, kind-of-narrative, deep dive into internet obsession feature film that raised many eye-brows, industry and to-be fans alike. I Saw The TV Glow, will surely raise Jane's profile as a new voice in the indie-film queer cinema space, given the critical praise thus far of TV Glow. I was able to see the film…

YES! It's finally here! A homegrown (Canadian) horror film, that tests the boundaries of the "Slasher" genre. Opening at the Hyland June 15th, Chris Nash's debut feature film screened at Sundance 2024 and has been stealing the hearts and minds of horror fans ever since. Is this movie divisive? Yes. It's a "love it or hate it" - which personally, is my favourite kind of film, regardless of genre. I can say however, this film is worth the price of admission and we can't wait until London get's to experience this one-of-a-kind, unique horror film!
