There once was a dream that was Rome. This is not that dream.
Gladiator II was extremely fast paced (not a bad thing) and often jarring. The acting was fantastic and the action was intense. However, with all the CGI spectacle and gore the emotion and character development its predecessor possessed was lost.
The first movie is my favourite movie of all time, so maybe my expectations were too high. Still disappointed.
Either I’ve outgrown the stupid yet fun nature of rom coms (aka I hate fun), or this is a horrible rom com.
Either way, this was completely unenjoyable, every situation seemed ridiculous and unrealistic (which is saying something in this genre), and the actual romance was not interesting (give me sexual tension!!!).
The juxtaposition of the biggest moron I’ve ever seen in a movie (Anakin Skywalker) and the biggest badass I’ve ever seen (Darth Vader) was startling to say the least.
I love trying to pick out the parts of this movie that correspond to Homer’s “Odyssey.” Also, this movie is hilarious and has the absolute banger that is “A Man of Constant Sorrow.”
