The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari 2005
somehow, even though shot entirely on greenscreen, interpersed with amateurism, dialogue sometimes being awkward, performances at best mediocre, this movie still worked for me. it tried its very best to summon some of the spirit of 1920s expressionism, and in spirit it definitely has. the makeup is cute, the shadows don't work as well as they should, but there is a surreal charm in the theater-ness of the sets and the nonchalance of simply reusing the older movie. this would not have worked if the budget were any higher, because many of the problems it has are sort of toned down through the movies unpretentious air.

FleshEater 1988
after 25 minutes i was like "damn this movie is almost over", but it's actually just getting started. a zombie movie that things bigger. a bit rough around the edges, but its got spirit, vision, and fantastic sfx. also, this movie does not give a fuck. no one is safe, especially not children. more creative than most 21st century zombie flicks for sure.

A certified antifeminist feminist classic, if you wish. you've already read that this review contains spoilers, so…

The Brown Bunny 2003
Imagine finally convincing the cute girl from your class (who you've been eyeing for some time) to come over to your house to kick back and watch some movies.. You both pick one and she goes with "The Brown Bunny". Neither of us knew what was going to happen. We weren't ready, not physically nor psychologically.
What followed was perhaps the most excruciatingly awkward few minutes, tearing my heart apart like peeling an orange, biting my flesh and sucking my…
