Eggers is a director that I always have to try to remember his filmography. And even now, having just reviewed it, it feels to me that every Eggers film could be the same movie with each story culminating into a crossover conclusion. Bjork rides in on Black Phillip, wielding that booby mermaid statue sharpened into a stake, and stabs a vampire in the heart.

Eggers films asks what is a director without an aesthetic? I always leave his movies thinking…

During the movie my spouse disappeared to take a work call for about 15 minutes. When he returned he asked "what did I miss" -and I said "nothing really."

    Exhilarating.

I watched this on a Saturday night in the middle of Suburban Florida. I was verifiably surrounded by audience members who came because Demi Moore is in this and the previews showed so little.

I relish that Coralie Fargeat has tricked countless people into being exposed to such pure, disgusting cinema.

Fargeat and Rose Glass (Love Lies Bleeding) are the two most exciting directors to grace 2024 film. I am positively huffing their fumes.

Someone else stayed up late in the 90s watching the David's (Lynch & Cronnenberg). Someone else grew up in a house that abused them into escapism. Someone else hid who they were for survival only to discover it was burying them alive.

Someone else made a movie about all of it in 2024.
