Yi Yi 2000
Yi Yi is a stunning, all-embracing panoramic of a middle-aged man, NJ, and three generations of his family in Taipei. I watched this movie with my parents and sister during Chinese New Year, which was interesting in retrospect because I think we all saw versions of ourselves in the three generations of family members and in the honest depiction of their interwoven struggles between the constraining demands of their reality and the impulses of their desires.
