Ammonite 2020
they tried to convey too much through subtext and scenery. i wanted more of the characters and more of the story. i couldn’t feel what they were feeling. i didn’t understand their sadness or pain because there were no explanations. i wanted to love this pairing but winslet’s character was cold and didn’t seem connected to saoirse most of the time. there were moments of greatness and absolutely beautiful intimacy, but it was a reach for the stars that missed.
