  when the sole child side character of the film steals the show you know something is terribly wrong. it actually devastated me how flat this film fell given how much it has to work with, evolving entirely uninspired beyond its synopsis. a film that felt like, in some way, could have even been saved by a soft score underneath the painful dialogue exchanges. it was so tragic being so excited to see a film centering black love and the complexities…
