My expectations for the film were not the best as I was expecting the acting to be unbearably artificial, but I was pleasantly surprised. The actors did a great job portraying the emotional connection that the characters had with one another. Harry Powell being portrayed as this shadowy figure was a brilliant use of lighting in the film as it evoked an unsettling feeling within the viewer. The character perfectly fit the archetype of serial killers enclosing their ulterior motives. This façade of being a devout Christian was especially intriguing because you truly never know who those around you are, until it is too late. Horror is definitely not my favorite genre, but this movie brought a sense of nostalgia and humor to the horror genre that made it enjoyable to watch. Drew Barrymore is an incredible actress; I didn’t know she was a part of this film so seeing her in it was a nice surprise. The plot twist was great, I somewhat suspected that the goofy and unsuspecting character would be the killer, but I didn’t expect there to be more than one.…
