  How do you rate a film which is utterly insane... a film which really should not exist at all? Very uncomfortable to watch, but equally compelling for its madness and that itch of morbid fascination. Apparently no animals were hurt. A heck of a lot of people were.

  I had low expectations going in. As it turned out, not nearly low enough. It took unnecessary liberties with the source material, it looked like it was entirely filmed in a studio (which I believe it was, but that's no excuse), and it was just generally dull and vacuous. I should have stayed at home and watched the Peter Ustinov version.
