The Commitments 1991
Huge shoutout to this film for indirectly allowing me to meet Glen Hansard after a show in 2010 (long story). It’s funny, musically brilliant, and how Robert Arkins didn’t end up being Ireland’s greatest export is beyond me. Great focus on Dublin, especially for the time, and proof that Roddy Doyle actually is one of Ireland’s greatest novelists.
