I saw this in theaters with friends and remember being miserable the entire time, but that was probably because of a certain individual who I wanted to throw out of my car on my way back.

Anyways! This was pretty good, not the best but I have a spot spot for any movie that’s just 3 short films. Jeffrey Wright’s would probably be my favorite if it weren’t for the mediocre animation but this was a lot stronger than I remembered it. The others felt like they had more depth, with the art one narrowly being my favorite.

So the premise here is a group of high power neolibs end up hunting and killing maga types who fight back and unfortunately, the humor, political satire, and violence doesn’t go to the levels it should be for this to work. Tbh that makes sense considering that Damon “the fraud” Lindeloff wrote this.

The lib jokes grow old after 5 minutes, and they bait you into thinking Glenn Howerton is gonna be in this by having him open the movie. Really feels like a time capsule of trump 1 era discourse that’s best left forgotten.

Matt Farley, You Smoke Too Tough. Your Swag Too Different. Your Bitch Too Bad. They’ll Kill You.

Peak is here and Farley and Roxborough deliver again.

Mild spoilers but there are four different cuts and the “screening” cut I saw felt perfect. Only after during the Q&A with Farley himself and the reveal of both end the credits stinger and the fact there are four different cuts of the film blew my mind.

Farley feels like a true innovator and is probably my favorite working filmmaker right now purely because nothing feels like his work.

This movie is better the less you think about it. “Portland maoist uprising,” don’t think about it. “Antifa massacre,” don’t think about it. Focus on the fact this is actually a road trip movie and why Kirsten Dunst is underrated.
