It has been many years since the original 3 movies came out, but I still had high hopes that Dreamworks would be able to capture the magic of Kung Fu Panda for its 4th release. Sadly I was mistaken. The movie was entertaining and had a great soundtrack just like its predecessors but lacked the emotional storytelling to keep the viewer involved. This story is fun to watch, I can image even more so for its younger intended audience but did not leave me with the happy, warm fuzzy feeling that other movies like this have.
Without having re-watched the original Hunger Games trilogy in years, this movie throws you right back in with a sense of nostalgia and familiarity being back in Panem. The prequel, following Coriolanus Snow, does a great job showing the transformation of this character from a poor, smart, optimistic young student to the eventual monster, loved by the capital that we all know from the original movies.
