  So glad to finally get around to this. I had been thinking about it for a long while and, after watching, I’m sure I’ll be thinking about it for longer still. Lots to love; tight storytelling, body horror, great character performances, and a nagging pain that lasts without overbearing itself.

  What compelled me the most was the character dynamics presented around Sennott’s protagonist Sam, which feel alive and fresh. It’s often in these spaces that I Used to Be Funny hits its stride, showcasing strong symbiotic acting in moments ranging from as mundane as sharing a pasta dinner with roommates to reconciling with a damaged teenager wrecked by abandonment.
