This is a great psychological/survival horror that I have loved since the cinema release. This is doing and saying a lot without talking down to the audience, the aspect ratio change is just one of those.
The themes of self-preservation and paranoia, grief, death and the acceptance of death are all handled very well and makes this film worth a watch for any fans of dystopian/post-apocalyptic films.
This cast are phenomenal along with the production design bring a fantastic sense of realism that just adds to the quality of the film.

I see now why I normally miss this one. There are some good action moments and Stallone is as charismatic as ever, but damn this film is poor in comparison and such a disappointment. Part One is a fantastic study of PTSD, the horrors of war, essentially an anti-war film. And then there is this pro-war schlock that manages to scrape by. It has put me off re-watching Rambo 3, I'm sure I'll get to it, eventually. At least it isn't Last Blood or whatever Rambo 5 was called.

This film was absolute perfection in terms of storytelling and telling enough truth of the story to remain accurate. Every cast member is giving it 110%. If The Wrestler is the equivalent of Taxi Driver for wrestling films, then this is The Godfather. This film is so rich in narrative, and textures that allow this film to live and breath in a way films rarely do.
The attention to detail is very evident when watching the cast do the wrestling…

A great aesthetic which remained the film's strength throughout. There are some good performances but it doesn't feel like everyone is getting the same tone from the script, and Lily Rose Depp has some good moments and then times where you can tell she's trying, like you can see her performance and not the character (if that makes sense). I don't think this has (or was meant to have) the charm of the 1922 original.
    This was over-hyped and I…
